Reference profile

What it is.

IGF-1 LR3 is a modified form of insulin-like growth factor 1, with an arginine substitution and a 13-amino-acid extension. The changes reduce binding to IGF-binding proteins, which gives it a much longer half-life than native IGF-1.

How it is used.

IGF-1 LR3 is widely used in cell culture and growth-factor research. Studies look at cell proliferation, muscle-cell differentiation and the IGF-1 receptor signalling pathway.
