What It Is Tesamorelin is a synthetic analogue of Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH), stabilised with a trans-3-hexenoic acid group to extend its biological half-life relative to endogenous GHRH. It acts on GHRH receptors in the anterior pituitary gland, stimulating the pulsatile secretion of endogenous growth hormone. Unlike direct GH administration, tesamorelin works through the body's own pituitary feedback axis, resulting in a more physiologically regulated GH release pattern. It is notably used in research models examining visceral adiposity, GH deficiency, and GHRH receptor signalling.
How It Is Used Tesamorelin is supplied as a lyophilised powder, reconstituted with the supplied diluent or bacteriostatic water, and administered via subcutaneous injection. Research applications include GH axis modulation studies, visceral fat metabolism, lipodystrophy modelling, and cognitive function in GH-deficient states.
