Description
GHK-Cu (Glycyl-L-Histidyl-L-Lysine Copper Complex) is a naturally occurring tripeptide–copper complex found in human plasma, saliva, and urine. The peptide sequence Gly-His-Lys has a high affinity for copper(II) ions, forming a stable chelate complex that is biologically active across multiple tissue systems. GHK-Cu has been extensively studied for its roles in extracellular matrix (ECM) remodelling, collagen synthesis regulation, antioxidant enzyme activation, and modulation of gene expression. Preclinical research suggests it influences over 4,000 genes involved in tissue repair, anti-inflammatory pathways, and cellular regeneration.
Use Cases
GHK-Cu is supplied as a lyophilised powder, reconstituted with sterile or bacteriostatic water, and administered via subcutaneous injection in research protocols. It is studied in models of wound healing, skin biology, hair follicle biology, neurological repair, and anti-ageing biochemistry.
